GOING AWAY FOR THE VACATION?

If your child(ren) will miss any schools due to your vacation plans please
remember to call in on the Safe Arrival/Callback line on 617 559 9390

to identify their absence. It is necessary to do this EVEN IF you have
already informed your teacher, for any absence or late arrival at school
whether due to illness or appointments etc.,.

WHY?

Because parent volunteers check all attendance records to ensure the safe
arrival of all Cabot students and call the homes of any students not
accounted for. This is a time consuming but essential job and calling the
Safe Arrival/Callback line can eliminate unnecessary work & confusion.
Sending an email to the teacher is not a reliable method because not all
teachers have the opportunity to check their e-mails before completing the
morning's attendance.

SO MAKE THAT CALL!

REMEMBER THE CALLBACK NUMBER IS LISTED AT THE START OF YOUR CABOT DIRECTORY!

An update on Fundraising at Cabot School this year!

Thanks to you all for supporting the different fundraising efforts so far
this year at Cabot! As you know through these efforts we raise money to
provide activities and program enrichment opportunities for every student at
Cabot. Basically this year we have planned to spend $133 per student -
compare that to the approximately $88 the School Department provides!! Our
largest fundraiser is the Campaign for Cabot which has just finished and we
thank all of you who donated and helped fill in Humpty! We did well raising
some $4,000 above our target but being the vigilant stewards that we are, we
are concerned that the level of participation has dropped from 55% of Cabot
families last year to 43% of Cabot families this year. Is this a trend that
needs to be reflected in our budgeting for next years spending? Do we need
more fundraisers or should we cut some of our activities? What do you think?
Come to the February 27th PTO meeting at 8:40 am and talk about what we
should or shouldn't do for fundraising at Cabot School as we plan our
activities for next year.

Cabot has made it past the 50% mark where we rank regionally (within 25
miles) in participation with Box Tops for Education. We're up to $221 of
our $500 goal. Keep on shopping through this link:
http://www.cabotpto.org/shop.html where you can access many of your favorite
stores and earn money for Cabot at the same time.

How many of you encouraged your kids to help you find and clip at least 10
box tops last month? Have a contest with your neighbors and friends to see
who can collect more! It's easy to do and is quick money which adds up for
the school.

This has been compiled for you by the Cabot PTO
