Dear Cabot Parents and Guardians,



You are all aware of the severe space restrictions we have at Cabot. We have
no more classroom space, 

no extra space to be creative with and next year we expected to need at
least one, perhaps two more classrooms. 

The School Committee is assessing several options to solve the short term
space crunch at Cabot and 4 other 

Newton elementary schools. These options have been circulated to the general
public for comment and the 

School Committee will make a decision on what action(s) to take on December
11th.

 

At the recent public forum the School Committee heard from concerned
parents, many from Cabot. 

The Cabot PTO strongly affirmed a desire to keep our students, faculty and
community intact and advocated 

for modular space as a short term solution. However, it is possible that
Cabot will not be given a modular building. 

If this happens the School Committee will have some significant and
difficult choices to make. 

 

The Cabot PTO has constructed a survey to capture our community's views that
will enable us to provide guidance 

to the Newton School Committee and help them make more informed decisions
about the solutions they will 

ultimately recommend. Our voices count - make your voice heard!! 

Remember you can always email your views to the School Committee at
schoolcommittee at newton.k12.ma.us 

 

Please complete the survey in full so we can fully account for the
community's views. We assure you that 

all responses will be kept confidential and no identifying information will
be reported. The deadline for completing 

this survey is midnight November 8th, 2006.  You can complete it online
anytime from NOW TO THE DEADLINE
