Update on the School Committee meeting this evening to discuss the policy
options available to address the short term space needs at the 5 Newton
Elementary schools

The bottom line is that they want to hear from Newton parents, that means
YOU! The School Committee made it abundantly clear this evening that the
document published by Dr. Jeff Young on Friday, which we summarized in our
email sent out on Saturday, outlines options that are not etched in stone
nor exhaustive. But in order to affect what policy options they will
consider in future debates & vote upon, they want to hear what the community
has to say.

This Wednesday, October 25th at 7:30pm (Oak Hill Middle School Library) you
will have the one & only opportunity to have an interactive question &
answer session with the School Committee. We urge you to take this
opportunity to let the School Committee know how, as a Cabot parent, you
feel about this situation - What do you think about the options outlined,
do you have questions about how they would work in practice, do you have
concerns, do you have suggestions that aren't on this list?

If you cannot attend this meeting then be aware that you can email your
comments, questions & suggestions to the School Committee at
schoolcommittee at newton.k12.ma.us Your email will automatically go to the
members of the School Committee, Dr. Young & Mayor Cohen.

Can't find our summary or want to find out exactly what the options document
said - go to
http://www.newton.k12.ma.us/schoolcommittee/actions/elem_space.html & see
the report for yourself.
